In this retreat, you will learn how to paint an icon of Jesus Christ (Mandylion, Image of Edessa) using gessoed wooden panels, genuine gold leaf, and traditional egg tempera. At the end of the course, you’ll be able to take home a beautiful icon painted by yourself, the fruit of many hours of hard work and prayer. You do not need to have any professional art training or prior experience in icon painting. The only expectation is your willingness to learn something new and to immerse in an ancient and sacred tradition of iconography to enter into a deeper relationship with God.
$920 for single bedroom $620 for commuters (includes meals and supplies)
