Come prepare for Easter with the Capuchins and join us for the return of our popular annual Lenten Series!
The Capuchin Retreat Center in Washington Twp will be hosting a six-week Wednesday lecture series called “The Sacraments – A Lifetime of Grace”. Through this series, we’ll deepen our relationship with God by gaining a richer understanding of the church’s seven Sacraments. Each week, from February 21 – March 27, we will host a Mass, a simple meal, and a presentation on our topic. Our suggested donation for this event is just $10.
Event Schedule:
5:30 p.m. – Simple Dinner
6:00 p.m. – Presentation in the Dining Room
7:00 p.m. – Mass
Schedule of Topics and Presenters:
Feb 21: “Baptism and Confirmation” – by Br. Vito Martinez, OFM Cap.
Feb 28: “Marriage” – by Mrs. Sally McCuen, OFS
Mar 06: “Holy Orders“ – by Br. Julius Milton, OFM Cap.
Mar 13: “Anointing of the Sick” – by Br. Nathan Linton, OFM Cap.
Mar 20: “Penance” – by Br. Steve Kropp, OFM Cap.
Mar 27: “Eucharist” – by Br. Peter Chinnappan, OFM Cap.
On the first Wednesday of the month during our 7:00 p.m. evening Mass we offer blessings with a first-class relic of Blessed Solanus Casey, one of our Capuchin brothers on the road to Sainthood. Inspired in collaboration with the Blessing of the Sick service offered at the Solanus Casey Center in Detroit, we hope this blessing provides a powerful experience of prayer and grace for those who attend.
Our theme for the 2023-24 season is: “In the Footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi.” By delving into our Franciscan tradition, we will unravel the life of St. Francis and explore key events in his conversion and ministry. Through his life, the weekend retreat will be an opportunity for you to know St. Francis more deeply and to recognize those moments of grace in your own life as a consecrated woman. This weekend will help deepen your awareness of God’s loving presence and embrace the Gospel with evermore joy.
There will be opportunities for silent reflection, preached talks on St. Francis, one-on-one spiritual dialogue with the preachers, Mass, Eucharistic adoration, confession, healing service, and strolls in the beautiful God’s creation.
Please join us at Capuchin Retreat Center so that we can journey with St Francis and learn to love God as he loved God. A suggested donation of $650 is recommended. A $100 nonrefundable deposit secures your spot at the retreat. Please reach out to us if you have any questions. We hope to see you at this retreat. God bless.
