Come to the Capuchin Retreat Center in late spring/early summer for an extended retreat experience, giving you time and space to walk with God surrounded by creation. We offer a week-long retreat each June for professed religious sisters, Icon Painting retreats, and private directed retreats that are open to all.
See you at the Capuchin Retreat Center soon! God bless you.
In this retreat, you will learn how to paint an icon of the Mother of God called “Eleusa” (Greek: tenderness, showing mercy). It depicts the Virgin Mary lovingly holding the Christ Child close to her cheek, symbolizing deep affection and mercy.
We will use traditional egg tempera on gessoed wooden panels. At the end of the retreat, you’ll be able to take home a beautiful icon painted by yourself, the fruit of many hours of hard work and prayer.
This retreat is meant for iconographers who already have some experience with egg tempera, not for beginners. It will require some degree of independent work.
The suggested donation for the Iconography Retreat is $920 for a single bedroom or $620 for commuters. Meals and supplies are included. Registration will be available soon.
Do you want to spend a day or two at the Capuchin Retreat Center? Here is an opportunity. This is a week for Directed or Private Retreats with no preached retreat conferences. It is an opportunity to choose any number of days of the week you spend here on sacred ground, praying and listening to God on your own or with the guidance of a spiritual director.

The theme for this year’s Religious Sisters’ Retreat is “A Lifetime of Blessedness – Retreat on the Beatitudes.” In our life and world, where the happiness or blessedness of a person is measured by the material wealth and social status acquired, the beatitudes (5:3-12) describe certain qualities and experiences of those who are considered blessed or happy in God’s eyes.
While these qualities and experiences of mourning, being poor in spirit, meek, and persecuted mentioned in the beatitudes, and often experienced in our religious life, do not look like blessedness or happiness at the outset, a deeper reflection on them reveals a blessed and happy way of life Jesus intends for those in consecrated religious life.
Join us this year at the Capuchin Retreat Center to prayerfully meditate on the beatitudes to learn more about and embrace the blessed, joy-filled, and peace-filled way of life that Jesus has promised for those who believe in Him.
See you at the Capuchin Retreat Center soon! God bless you, sister!
The suggested donation for the Religious Sisters Retreat is $650.00
