Monthly Reflections for May 2013

  • 1 - Embracing work is embracing life. We must embrace whatever comes our way to rise to a deeper life. St Joseph the Worker did just that.
  • 2 - God is always coming to bring us joy. He needs our open hearts so he can fill us with wisdom and joy.
  • 3 - Holiness results from allowing Jesus to be our Way, our Truth and our Life.
  • 4 - God dwells among us –always. It is so easy to forget this. His Presence is always all around us.
  • 5 - The goodness of God is always refreshing even in painful times. It is the surrendering that can be painful but in the surrender God is able to refresh us.
  • 6 - In patience with everyone profound awareness results.
  • 7 - “I am the Vine, you are the branches”. We do have a God who is consistently pouring into us his love and wisdom. Don’t block the sap of the Vine coming into us by anger, resentments and holding things against people.
  • 8 - Peace does flow like a river from God. We simply need to allow this peace to flow into us by having quiet, open hearts.
  • 9 - “Like the deer that yearns for running streams, so my soul is yearning for you, my God.”(Ps.42) We hunger and thirst for God and He is always there waiting for us and eager to satisfy our deepest longings. Let it happen.
  • 10 - Allow God to feed you and quench your thirst by letting go of analyzing and judging and simply let your heart be open to everything and everyone.
  • 11 - When we become judgmental and condemning we diminish our spiritual growth.
  • 12 - Freedom comes from Love and Surrender and not having to be right all the time.
  • 13 - You are precious and loved by God. You are the delight of God. He is the foundation of your life.
  • 14 - “Whoever is without love, does not know God, for God is Love.”Jn:4:8  When we love we get to experience God. It really is very simple and yet so very profound.
  • 15 - Jesus comes to bring us joy, not sadness. “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy might be complete”.
  • 16 - God is always choosing us but often we don’t choose God.
  • 17 - God is always ‘saving’ us and ‘gifting’ us. It is just so hard to believe because to believe in wonderful awesome experiences and gifts can be a struggle. We are afraid of being loved so wonderfully. This is the fear we must all embrace so this fear doesn’t hinder us from receiving God.
  • 18 - “The Lord sent me to comfort all who mourn”.(is 61:1-2) God really wants to comfort us.
  • 19 - In our diminishments and struggles life can become very clear.
  • 20 - We are constantly being renewed by God in every event of life. “In him we live and move and have our being.” “Behold I make all things new.”
  • 21 - The Spirit of Truth is always challenging us to become open, broken and receptive to Divine Light and Wisdom.
  • 22 - “His love endures forever” (Ps.27) God’s wonderful, wise Love never leaves us. It is always there waiting for us to return and become more receptive.
  • 23 - Come out of your darkness and into glorious, comforting light by embracing your pain and struggles and becoming quiet with God. It is called meditation and contemplation.
  • 24 - Let us accept the limitations of life and of other people so we can become unlimited in our experience of God.
  • 25 - The month of May teaches us much about the total surrender of Mary to the Will of God.  “Let it be done to me according to your word.” She is the model of total  surrender and total receptivity to the grace of God.
  • 26 - “I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.” (Jn.16:33) We have nothing to worry about regardless of what happens around us. God is always with us drawing us closer to him.
  • 27 - Nothing will be too difficult for us to face because God is always giving us strength and wisdom. The struggle is to allow it to happen. This is why we need daily meditation.
  • 28 - “Keep me safe, O God, you are my hope.” Ps. 16.  How true and how safe we really are. We have hope that all will be well internally. Externally all may be not well. But internally we can always be at peace. Utopia is something internal. It is called Resurrection when we embrace what is before us.
  • 29 - God wants us to ask for help. He also wants us to ask for simple things. He will always answer us in some manner and it will always be for our good. He is there in every simple moment of life willing and ready to help us.
  • 30 - Remembering our veterans who died for us is a very Christian act of gratitude and a Christian experience of reflecting on death and resurrection.
  • 31 - Life seems always short no matter how few years we live and how long we live. What makes our lives meaningful is our daily encounter with God.
